  The Writing Trek
The Writing Trek Grades 2-3 is the ideal
introduction to the award-winning Writing Trek Series, which features authentic
writing projects for elementary through high school students. Designed
specifically for primary students who may not have acquired keyboarding skills,
it initiates learners to the key elements of several popular writing
genres.
Set in a fantasy mountaintop village, The Writing Trek Grades 2-3
features six project "houses" where students are encouraged to choose and
explore a variety of writing styles. Projects are accompanied by an array of
colorfully animated scenes and characters that guide students as they discover
the fundamentals of good writing. For example, in Haiku, students discover that
haiku poems never rhyme, and in Book Review, that book reviews are a good way to
share personal opinions about reading.
The six projects in The Writing
Trek Grades Grades 2-3 are: Haiku, Greeting Card, Just So Stories, Classroom
Newsletter, Book Review, and Reader’s Theater. All projects in The Writing Trek
have been designed to give students awareness that writing can be used to
communicate different ideas, for different purposes, and in many different
forms. Watch your students' writing competence and creativity grow as they
progress through The Writing Trek.
